If the walls of this former brickworks could speak, they would undoubtedly tell their innermost secrets. After several months of renovation, the Hostellerie Briqueterie & Spa unveiled its new face in spring, 2024. Its rebirth was the result of an encounter: between entrepreneur Amaury Rostagnat and architect Marie Courdouan, who had already worked together on other projects, in particular, the Hostellerie Cèdre & Spa in Beaune, and who share a fondness for heritage. Thanks to the precious know-how of the decorators and craftsmen of C&W Design+Build and The Great Hospitality, Marie Courdouan succeeded in polishing the patina and restoring radiance to this residence of character. Success that also bears the signature of the project manager, whose aspirations towards contemporary esthetics have been admirably achieved.
Nestling in an idyllic park of almost 9.9-acres, the Hostellerie Briqueterie & Spa – inaugurated in 1973 – has been treated to a facelift for its 50th birthday. ‘‘It is a holiday home which has a soul. Our aim was not to reject what it once was, but to pursue its story by giving it a more contemporary identity to offer its guests a truly elegant setting,’’ explains Marie Courdouan. The exposed beams of the old residence have all been preserved. ‘‘Forming part of the building’s structure, they are a wonderful reinterpretation of local architecture.’’ Renewal commences in the central lobby, the starting-point for a path of initiation through the hotel. On one side, guest rooms and spa areas offer invitations for relaxation and peacefulness. On the other, the restaurants, bar and kiosk promise convivial moments and culinary discoveries. This carefully considered layout enables guests to move around easily in the different parts of the hotel without disturbing the tranquillity of its accommodation and thus preserving the peaceful atmosphere that defines its charm.
Surrounded by rolling green landscapes, at the heart of Champagne’s vineyards, the Hostellerie Briqueterie & Spa is cradled in light that changes as the hours go by. This natural richness was the main source of inspiration for the hotel’s renovation. In harmony with the nearby vines, palettes of soft, soothing colours have been chosen, with a preference for green. A colour found in all the rooms, ensuring a serene, relaxed atmosphere. As for the 40 rooms and suites, they have been refitted to offer maximum comfort and wellbeing. Partition walls have been removed to create brighter, more open spaces. The decor has been redesigned to offer noble, warm materials such as light oak, ecru, and pile fabrics. In tones of khaki, bronze and crushed cherry-terracotta, the colours add a touch of sophistication while harmonizing with the natural environment. To give precedence to light, heavy drapes have been replaced by airy veiling. Previously offering limited views of the scenery, the large suites have been reoriented to allow guests to benefit fully from the beauty of the vineyards. With new accommodation proposals, a completely redesigned concept for dining and well-being, including a new spa in partnership with Maison Caulières, this legendary address now asserts itself as a fully-fledged destination.
